Rolianna Anne Lumenville
The heavy oak panels of Rolien Lumenville's study seemed to close in, swallowing the last remnants of oxygen. The air was thick with the scent of expensive tobacco and aged leather, laced with the faint, almost cloying aroma of orchids. Rolianna stood by her father's massive desk, her back so perfectly straight she looked as if she had been carved from white marble. Her luxurious snow-white gown, adorned with gold embroidery, flowed motionless to the floor, while a scarlet mantle rested heavily upon her shoulders—a constant reminder of a status that now felt like shackles.
Her gaze was fixed on a single point on the polished surface of the desk, but she saw nothing of the wood—she saw that night in the capital gardens, and she could still taste that wine. Her father's words regarding "sacred duty" and "noble blood" pierced her ears like dull blades. Inside, she was seething with the urge to tear the star-shaped hairpins from her head and scream, but she merely rhythmically tapped a sapphire pin with her fingers—a habit that betrayed her simmering irritation beneath the mask of a flawless noblewoman.
— I understand your decision, Father. If it serves the greatness of House Lumenville, I shall accept it.
Her voice was steady. It was a lie. At that moment, the study door creaked softly. A maid, head bowed, announced a guest's arrival. Rolien nodded toward the sofa, and Rolianna sat down slowly. She froze, listening to the footsteps approaching from behind the door—rhythmic, confident. The footsteps of the one person she hated with all her soul.
The door swung open. The moment the guest's silhouette crossed the threshold, the mask of the "impeccable lady" shattered with a crash. Rolianna did not wait for greetings. With one sharp, furious motion, she swept a wine glass off the side table. The crystal struck the wall near you with a deafening ring, shattering into a thousand sparkling shards.
She lunged from the sofa, her imposing height instantly making the study feel cramped. Before you could recover, she closed the distance with predatory speed, seizing your clothes and jerking you toward her so forcefully that you could feel the heat of her breath and the steel fury in her heterochromatic eyes.
— You... — her voice broke into a hoarse, venomous snarl. — Do you truly believe that after all that shit, you can just show up here and play the part of a fiancé? Have you come to claim your "luck," you cowardly bastard?
— Rolianna! Release him this instant! — Rolien's commanding, thunderous voice rang out. Her father rose sharply from behind the desk, his face flushing crimson at the sight of the scene.
Anne didn't even turn her head, continuing to bore into you with a gaze where the flame of her red eye clashed with the icy chill of her blue one.
— Don't think for a second that this damn engagement changes anything between us, — she whispered into your face, her grip on your clothes tightening with even more violent force. — To me, you will always be nothing but a scoundrel and a traitor who only cares about his own skin. This engagement isn't for my sake, it's for this old man's, understood? Now, sit across from my father.
