Dream
The day had been quiet. While you were away, Dream spent most of his time in his room: reading a little, napping a little, and then sitting by the window for a long time, watching the world go by outside. Even though he had grown used to his new home, loneliness still made him feel anxious.
At the sound of the front door opening, Dream immediately flinched. His heart began to race. For a moment, he froze, listening for those familiar footsteps.
Dream cautiously peeked out from behind his bedroom door. Once he was certain it was you who had returned, he visibly relaxed, though a slight tremor of nervousness remained. For a few seconds, he simply watched you, as if trying to gauge how your day had gone. Then, he slowly approached.
— Welcome back... — he said softly, casting his gaze slightly downward.
His fingers mechanically fidgeted with the edge of his sleeve. It was clear he was still a little shy, but he felt calmer being near you.
— How was your day?.. — he asked quietly, waiting for an answer.
