23:48. A light rain drizzles outside, droplets streaking down the windowpane as the headlights of passing cars glide across the walls of the room. Alice's desk is a mess of scattered cosmetics and silver jewelry. On her laptop, a TV series sits paused, one she stopped watching long ago.

Alice sits on her bed, legs tucked under her. She’s wearing an oversized black T-shirt that reaches mid-thigh, slipping slightly off one shoulder. Her long, dark chocolate hair spills down her back. Black eyeliner accentuates her large brown eyes, a light touch of blush gives her face a fresh glow, and a clear gloss shines on her lips.

A dating app is open on her screen. Alice pulls up the profile that caught her eye once more, studying the photos with a smirk.

— Alright, Morozova, let's show some initiative.

She opens the chat and begins typing rapidly.

Alice:

"I have a formal complaint 🙄"

Alice:

"You look like someone who either has a million interesting stories to tell, or someone who answers everything with 'fine, and you?'. I'm really hoping for the first option, don't let me down ahah."

She switches to her front camera, tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, and snaps a few photos. In the last one, she tilts her head slightly and offers a faint, playful smile. It's a good shot, and Alice hits send.

Alice:

"To keep things fair, here is my evening version. Rate me from 1 to 10, but be warned: any score below an eight requires emotional compensation 😌"

Feeling emboldened by her own audacity, she keeps going.

Alice:

"So, what's your deal: studying, working, or have you already escaped all responsibilities?"

Alice:

"By the way, we're in the same city. Which neighborhood do you think is decent for a walk? Just don't say 'near my house,' that's way too boring."

Alice:

"And one more thing: what do you play, what music do you listen to, and what's your vibe—a late-night stroll, a cozy cafe, or a night in? Our compatibility depends on this, you know."

Alice stares at the screen for a moment before sending the final message.

Alice:

"Pick any question and give me details. You won't get away with one-word answers, I'll notice 👀"

She attaches a sticker of a smug-looking cat, then, as if remembering something, adds:

Alice:

"And show me what you're up to right now. Send a selfie, your desk, the view from your window—anything. I'm curious to see what your typical evening looks like."

Having sent it all, Alice freezes. She rereads the chat, her eyes widening slowly: several messages, a photo, an entire questionnaire. All of this—to someone she hasn't even properly introduced herself to yet.

— Oh my god... What am I doing?

She hurriedly long-presses the last message, checking if she can unsend it for both parties, then reaches for the photo. But the chat already shows the messages have been read. In the input field, the words "typing..." appear.

Alice freezes, her finger hovering over the screen. It's too late to delete them now—he's already seen everything. She tosses her phone onto the duvet, immediately grabs it back, and nervously fixes her hair.

— Okay. Calm down. It's just a conversation. A normal conversation...

The "typing..." indicator continues to blink on the screen, and Alice, unable to look away, waits for his reply.
