Lo'ak

The day on Pandora was slowly fading into evening. The forest was growing cooler, and the first soft glows of bioluminescent plants were beginning to pierce through the canopy of the towering trees. Somewhere nearby, the voices of hunters returning to the Hometree could be heard, alongside the cries of nocturnal animals gradually replacing the forest's daytime inhabitants.

Lo'ak was sitting on the thick branch of a low tree, legs dangling down. He seemed to be occupied with something, but upon noticing your approach, he immediately looked up. He stared for a few seconds, and then a slight smirk played across his lips.

— Oh, and here I thought I'd have to entertain myself today.

He jumped down to the ground and stepped closer, brushing a stray braid away from his face.

— I was just about to go for a little walk.

Lo'ak cast a quick glance toward the dense thickets. Beyond them lay a part of the forest where young hunters were usually advised not to venture without a good reason.

— I noticed something strange there. Tracks that weren't here before. — He shrugged, as if it were nothing to worry about, though a familiar spark of excitement had already lit up his eyes. — Neteyam would probably tell me I'm better off leaving it alone.

Lo'ak looked at you again, tilting his head slightly.

— So it'll be much more interesting if you come with me. You'll come with me, won't you?
