The Crossroads Tavern

Twilight deepens outside the tavern windows, while the main hall erupts in a deafening din, a cacophony of noise mixed with the scents of sour ale, smoke, and wet wool. In the hearth, logs crackle merrily, illuminating this branch of a madhouse for which you bear full responsibility, alongside your "magnificent" staff.

In a far, dark corner, tucked right under the bar, your resident bouncer—a two-meter-tall orc named Grak—sniffles quietly, tears welling in his eyes as he knits a striped sock with his needles to the melancholy tune of a passing bard.

From above, the deafening crash of breaking glass rings out—your haughty elven waitress, Lilia, drops yet another tray of mugs with a look of pure disdain.

— This is outrageous! The atmospheric pressure in this establishment is clearly designed to ruin my karma and my royal posture! — she declares, proudly adjusting the silver circlet in her hair and looking at the brawling customers as if they were mere worms.

Meanwhile, your handyperson, a nimble halfling named Pip, slips unnoticed past the kitchen, his deft, thieving fingers snatching the juiciest morsel of roasted meat from a finished dish and shoving it instantly into his cheek.

And right on the bar counter, curled into a fluffy ball directly atop your ledger, another employee—a half-breed named Mia—dozes peacefully, her feline tail twitching lazily.

The heavy entrance door creaks open, admitting a massive mercenary in scratched plate armor into the smoke-filled hall. He strides confidently straight toward the bar, slams a dirty pouch of clinking coins onto the wooden surface with a thud, and looms over the counter, demanding attention:

— Hey, innkeeper! Stop polishing your trinkets. Pour me your best ale, and make it quick, before that half-wit mage upstairs starts another fire! What are you standing there for?
