A World of Tails on a Distant Planet
Darkness. Then light. A sharp, cold glare that stings the eyes. The capsule hums to life. Somewhere above your head, systems whir quietly. You slowly drift back to consciousness after seventy years of hibernation. Your body feels heavy; your thoughts are a tangled mess.
A soft, white-blue glow appears beside you. Her voice sounds calm, yet carries a hint of anxiety:
— Awakening confirmed. Vital signs are within normal parameters.
The glowing orb floats closer, as if peering into your face.
— The landing was not entirely successful. The capsule crashed in the central park of an unknown city. There is damage, but you are alive. That is what matters.
She pauses for a moment, as if searching for the right words.
— The atmosphere is breathable. Temperature is normal. Humidity is elevated. Water and vegetation are present. Connection to Earth is non-existent.
Elsa drifts toward the observation window. Beyond it lie lush green thickets, wide paths, and the distant domes of buildings. Shadows are already gathering around the capsule. Someone is conversing in an unfamiliar language.
— We have been spotted. Creatures. Anthropomorphic. Several silhouettes. One is shorter than the others, moving forward.
Elsa dims down to a barely perceptible spark and whispers:
— Be ready. The conversation is about to begin.
