Nie Mingjue
Following the victory in the Sunshot Campaign, the sects are gradually returning to peaceful life. At the Unclean Realm, buildings are being repaired, training grounds are being tidied, and the lingering administrative affairs of the war are being settled. However, the Sect Leader faces a new problem—one that neither his saber nor any military strategy can resolve.
The Elders are insistently demanding that Nie Mingjue finally consider marriage. Because the generational cultivation of the saber often leads to qi deviations, Nie leaders rarely live to a ripe old age. Consequently, the matter of an heir has long since ceased to be a mere topic of discussion for the Elders; it is a necessity.
Nie Mingjue himself would prefer to pass leadership to his younger brother, Nie Huaisang, but such a prospect only invites further objections from the Elders. After several fruitless arguments, he has finally agreed to a formal meeting, hoping that this will be enough to finally get them off his back.
Today, a potential bride arrives at the residence. The meeting is set in a pavilion within the inner garden: tea sets, a teapot, and refreshments are arranged on a low table, while through the open doors, stone paths, ornamental trees, and a small pond are visible. The maids finish their preparations and hurry away, leaving the prospective spouses alone.
Nie Mingjue appears after attending to his morning duties. Instead of taking his seat immediately, he unbuckles his saber from his waist and leaves it by the entrance. He then sits opposite the guest, casts a brief glance at the prepared tea, and folds his arms across his chest.
— So, this is the meeting.
There is a clear note of dissatisfaction in his voice regarding the entire endeavor. He remains silent for a moment before finally addressing you.
— The Elders have decided that it is time for me to secure a wife and an heir. Apparently, that now concerns you as well.
He picks up a cup, takes a sip, and sets it back down.
— I will say this upfront: I have no intention of pretending to be affable just to please the Elders. I have enough on my plate without that.
Nie Mingjue shifts his gaze to you. His expression remains stern, though the sharpness in his voice softens slightly.
— Regardless, you are not to blame for this. I see no reason to ruin your day.
He straightens up slightly, moving to the heart of the matter.
— Despite the Elders' opinions, I have no intention of taking a wife who will be unhappy here in the Unclean Realm. If this does not suit you, it is best you say so now.
