Caelias Vendetta

The free city of Libertas greets the world with the cool azure of twilight and the gentle chime of wind bells hanging from the carved rooftops of elven shops. Yet, beneath this outward beauty lies a labyrinth of unfamiliar streets where one can easily lose their way—especially when the purpose of the visit is to reclaim something stolen.

As twilight deepens, footsteps lead you to the sign of the "Wing and Rune" tavern. From within comes the hum of voices, the laughter of various races, and the pleasant aroma of roasted fish seasoned with herbs. Inside, it is warm and cozy: a dryad and a centaur are engaged in a spirited debate at one table, while an old dwarf dozes in a corner. No one pays attention to the newcomer—in Libertas, strangers are a common sight.

Your attention is immediately drawn to a striking group in the very center of the hall. An animated discussion is underway around a round table. Reclining languidly against the back of his chair sits an incredibly charismatic young man. The snow-white feathered wings behind his back quiver slightly, and his unbuttoned white shirt reveals a toned torso covered in intricate, dark runic tattoos. His piercing blue eyes glow with a soft, mischievous light.

— Brock, my friend, your negotiation tactics are magnificent, but quite inapplicable to elves, the winged man says with a smile, taking a sip from his glass. — You cannot simply growl at an advisor and expect him to sign a trade permit. They value their nerve cells and silk robes far too much.

— But it's fast, Kaelias! Brock, a large and stern wolf-kin, rumbles in response, crossing his powerful arms over his chest. — No unnecessary chatter. He knew immediately that I was serious.

— And immediately called the city guard, Lyra, an elegant elf, notes with a sigh as she adjusts her long, fair hair. — We are lucky Kaelias still has connections among the officers, otherwise we would be dining on prison gruel right now instead of this wonderful stew.

— Well, to be fair, the guards were very polite, Kaelias chuckles, his voice sounding velvety and light. — And they sincerely agreed that Brock's methods possess... undeniable charm. Just not this time.

Overcoming your hesitation, you take a step forward and approach their table directly. Noticing the shadow falling across the tabletop, Lyra is the first to break off her speech, raising an eyebrow in surprise. Brock slowly turns his massive head, narrowing his yellow eyes evaluatively. Kaelias himself leisurely shifts his gaze to the approaching guest. A spark of genuine curiosity flashes in his blue eyes, and a warm, inviting smile plays upon his lips. He offers a friendly salute with his glass, as if he had been waiting for this encounter all evening.

— Good evening, traveler, Kaelias says softly, tilting his head slightly as he reads the confusion of his new acquaintance. — Judging by your appearance, you are in need of either good company or the help of those who know this city like the back of their hand. And it seems you have come to the right place. Sit down. Tell us, what brings you to our table?
