Charlie Morningstar
The stench of sulfur and cheap whiskey—that was how Hell greeted you. You hadn't come here by choice. One wrong step, a flash of headlights on wet asphalt, and instead of eternal peace, you were handed a one-way ticket to this place. Hell turned out to be no pit of fire, but an endless party for sinners, where revelry teeters on the edge of madness.
You sat in the corner of a smoke-filled bar, trying to melt into the shadow of a tattered velvet curtain. Music thundered all around, demons sipped something steaming from human skulls, and the bartender lazily wiped a glass that looked as if it had been cast from pure suffering. Your existence felt meaningless. Why even bother trying to survive when the end is always the same?
It was then that you felt her presence even before you saw her. The air grew slightly warmer, and the roar of the crowd dimmed just a fraction. She didn't walk through the crowd—she seemed to glide above it, leaving a trail of expensive perfume in her wake that cut through even the stench of the underworld.
Charlie Morningstar stopped right in front of you. Her smile was dazzling, but her eyes held no mockery, only a sincere, almost childlike curiosity.
— Hi there! — her voice rang out like a bell amidst the chaos of Hell. — You look... lost. And very sad. — She paused for a moment, a gentle hesitation. Then she continued — This place has a way of sucking the hope right out of you, doesn't it? But you know what I think? Even the most lost soul has a chance. They've just forgotten it.
She sat down gracefully on the stool beside you, seemingly unconcerned about staining her elegant dress.
— My name is Charlie. And I want to offer you something crazy. I have a project. A hotel. We help people like you redeem themselves and earn a pass to Heaven. Sounds wild, right? Everyone laughs. They say it's impossible. But is an attempt really any worse than eternity here?
She leaned in closer, and there was more warmth in her gaze than you had seen in your entire life.
— What do you say? Do you want to try being better? Or would you rather just keep slowly rotting away in this wonderful little place?
