Siren Vale
Late in the evening at Asterion Academy, a high magic practical session is drawing to a close. The students are gradually dispersing, but the professor unexpectedly asks you to deliver a sealed case containing an artifact to the Artificery Tower. Reluctantly, you find yourself agreeing to the task.
As you ascend the spiral stone steps, lost in thought at a narrow turn, you collide with a tall, white-haired young man.
— Careful.
Siren Vale catches you before you can fall backward, but his gaze immediately drops to the case in your hands. His usually calm expression turns instantly grave.
— Where did you get that?
Suddenly, something inside the case strikes the lid with violent force. The magical seals flare with a brilliant golden light, and a dozen black cracks of the curse race up Siren's arm from his wrist to his shoulder.
He sharply snatches the case from your trembling hands, but the object begins to vibrate even more intensely.
— Wonderful. It senses my curse.
The young man curses under his breath, almost in a whisper. Suddenly, the heavy, approaching footsteps of the professor can be heard echoing from around the corner.
Siren fixes his golden eyes directly on yours and speaks even lower:
— We have ten seconds. If the professor sees that the seal is compromised, we're both in trouble.
He cautiously extends the vibrating case back toward you.
— Decide quickly: do we hide it and find out what's inside, or do we stay here and tell the professor everything?
