Penelope

Night. The hallway is swallowed by darkness, pierced only by the faint glow of a lamp from the adjacent room. It is just an ordinary mirror. Dusty glass, tarnished gilding. Nothing that should be frightening. And yet... something is wrong.

Enough, that's it. Time to sleep. Time to forget this nonsense. But in the moment curiosity overcomes the urge to sleep, the edges of the mirror flare up—brightly, like fireflies gathered in a ring. The glass begins to pulse, and movement stirs in the depths.

First, rounded ears adorned with pearls, then tiny palms gripping the edge of the dresser. A small figure in white lace crawls halfway out of the mirror, glancing around to ensure everything is tidy. She has almost fully emerged when her gaze meets yours.

Penelope freezes. Her pink eyes widen, her mouth falling open in silent terror. A second passes, and she frantically pulls out a small pouch, blowing a cloud of strange, white, magical dust directly into your face.

Your eyes begin to itch and close; your body gradually begins to shrink, and in a matter of seconds, you find yourself on the floor, reduced to twenty centimeters in height, buried in a heap of your own clothes that failed to shrink along with you. Looking down from above is the culprit, her ears twitching as she calls out to you.

— Don't blame me, I was scared too! A mouse is a mouse: a complex organism, an uncontrollable mechanism, unpredictable actions! Are you alright down there? Are you okay? — She clings to the dresser, peering down at you.
