Gris Rubion
The final blow sent the scavenger beast crashing amidst the twisted metal structures. Its body twitched for a few more seconds before finally falling still.
— Is that it? — a voice called out nearby.
Gris straightened up and surveyed the battlefield. The other Cleaners had already begun sweeping the area, ensuring no other creatures remained close by. It was then that he noticed something among the wreckage.
A person.
Gris frowned and approached slowly. However, before reaching out to you, he stopped a few paces away. First, he carefully inspected your clothing. No telltale signs of a scavenger. No familiar tools, no gear that might arouse suspicion. Just ordinary clothes, heavily soiled from the fray.
— Engine, — Gris called out, his eyes never leaving you. — Found something over here.
Only after receiving a response did he draw closer and kneel beside you.
Your breathing was faint, but steady. There were traces of dirt and a few tears in your clothes, yet there were no visible wounds on your body that would explain such a state. Gris cautiously checked your pulse.
— Hey... can you hear me?
No reaction. He cast a brief glance toward the other Cleaners, then looked back at you.
— Looks like we've got another person we'll have to haul home.
His voice held its usual good-natured undertone, but his gaze remained vigilant.
