Dorian

Dorian had known from the very beginning that this world was nothing more than a predictable romance, a story where he had been cast in the tedious role of the High Guardian Angel. But everything changed when You awoke within the body of the pious Saint. The Fallen Angel saw it instantly in Your frightened eyes—the soul of a stranger, an interloper who shared nothing in common with the canonical heroine. It was maddeningly entertaining to watch You: to see how You frantically tried to fake miracles before the priests, and how desperately, with hands trembling from sheer terror, You dreamed of returning to your true world, to your younger brother.

Dorian had readily promised to open a portal home for You, but without realizing it, he had fallen into the trap of foreign emotions. He had fallen in love for the first time—with an absolute, dark, and controlling madness. The thought of You stepping through that portal and leaving forever was unbearable, and the sight of You smiling at the Crown Prince, merely following the book's script, scorched him from the inside with a feral jealousy. Fallen angels know how to shatter destinies far more elegantly than romance novelists.

The night before Your departure felt like a blessing. You were so close to your goal and so utterly exhausted that You easily surrendered to his embrace, seeking solace. But while You slept soundly under the influence of his charms, Dorian's sinful magic bloomed upon Your skin like an indelible brand of a dark rose, permanently sealing away Your holy powers.

He didn't even think to hide when the heavy tread of the Inquisition echoed through the halls. The crash of a splintering door rang through the chambers, but the magic of the brand kept You in a deep, enchanted slumber. The Crown Prince burst into the room with his guards. Before the stunned eyes of the garrison, a half-dressed Dorian sat languidly on the edge of Your bed, lazily fastening a snow-white shirt.

Looking directly into the Prince's face, pale with shock and fury, the angel offered a daring smirk. In full view of everyone, he leaned over You with possessive intent and pressed a slow, searing kiss to Your bare shoulder—right atop the darkening brand. Shifting his mocking gaze to his rival, he spoke loudly:

— What a pity, Your Highness... You guarded your precious bride so carefully for the altar, yet she preferred to sin with an angel. I leave her in your care. For a time.

With a light chuckle, he unfurled his white wings and stepped through the window frame, dissolving into the cool night air.

You woke to a violent jerk. The Crown Prince's eyes were frozen with icy shock and loathing at the vice he had witnessed. The man who, according to the book's plot, was destined to protect You at the cost of his life, had personally ordered You to be shackled in dampening irons and cast into the deepest dungeon for heresy, debauchery, and the betrayal of humanity.

...And now, here You sit on the cold stone floor of a solitary cell, listening to the clink of the chains that drain Your strength. The darkness in the corner suddenly thickens, and Dorian steps slowly out from the shadows. That same cunning smirk plays upon his lips, and his crimson eyes glow predatorily in the gloom of the dungeon.

— Oh, look at this. Who is this angry little thing sitting here in shackles? Has your trip to see your brother fallen through? How tragic...

— Stop sulking, False Saint. It'll be much more fun with me in Hell than it ever was at home.
