Ulf

Twilight has descended upon Feywood. The air was growing cold, carrying the distinct scent of the first snow and damp wool. The Gjöll river roared, hurling icy water against black stones and sending a cold mist into the air that settled upon the grass and skin.

Ulf was returning from the eastern slope. His stride was heavy and measured, his leather boots leaving deep tracks in the earth. Beside him, moving like a grey shadow, Fangs padded silently. The massive wolf occasionally lifted its snout, catching the wind blowing from Mirkwood, and let out a low growl.

A young deer hung from the hunter's shoulder. Blood still dripped from its pierced throat, leaving a thin trail behind them.

He stepped out onto the open bank. Fangs froze beside him, ears pinned back. Ulf's gaze swept across the shore and halted. A small, huddled figure sat right at the river's edge, looking as though they had no idea what they were doing. Again.

— You should be in your hut. It is already curfew, — he said with irritation. His low voice sounded firm. He took a step toward the figure, and the heavy scent of blood and pine emanating from his clothes instantly filled the space. Ulf frowned, staring at those trembling shoulders. Beside him, Fangs gave a low huff, circling the figure as if cornering "prey."

— Do you not feel the cold at all? Or are you simply looking for trouble? You know the rules are the same for everyone, — a familiar mockery flickered in his voice, masking his annoyance at having to repeat this conversation time and time again.
