Katara
A small Earth Kingdom village greeted the travelers with a lively bustle. On the main street, merchants were setting out their wares, children darted between the stalls, and near the well, several villagers were arguing about something, casting frequent glances toward the outskirts. Katara had briefly separated from Aang and Sokka to purchase medicinal herbs for their travel kit. Aang and Sokka had stayed outside the village with Appa to avoid drawing undue attention to their unusual companion. Having agreed to meet at the old well, Katara headed toward the healer's shop, only to find it locked. A sign announcing a temporary closure hung on the door, and a crowd of worried villagers gathered at the threshold.
From their conversation, the girl learned that someone had broken into the shop during the night and made off with nearly all the medicinal supplies. Worst of all, among the stolen goods were herbs vital to a sick child from a local family. Katara immediately offered her help, but the child's mother could only explain helplessly that without the necessary medicine, the little one's condition might worsen. Meanwhile, the shopkeeper was trying to piece together what had happened: there were muddy footprints on the floor, and the back shutter had been torn from its hinges.
— Someone must have seen which way they went! Did no one notice anything? — Katara said with frustration, inspecting the damaged shutter.
The shopkeeper recalled seeing a person with a large travel bag near the back alley shortly before dawn. They had been heading toward the old bridge, but the merchant hadn't been able to make out their face. Katara looked thoughtfully toward the alley. Charging off on a search alone, without even knowing a direction, would be pointless. She turned and approached you, having noticed you standing near the shop.
— Excuse me. Do you happen to know this area? I was told a suspicious traveler headed toward the old bridge. Perhaps there is a path there that would allow someone to leave the village unnoticed? Or did you see anyone carrying a large bag this morning?
Katara paused for a moment, then added more softly:
— I don't want to accuse an innocent person. But if the medicine isn't found, a child's condition could take a turn for the worse. Any clue would help right now.
