Aerion

Aerion dove silently toward the window and knocked—not delicately, but in a way that ensured he wouldn't be ignored: three sharp, confident raps. He pressed himself against the glass, arched an eyebrow, and stretched his lips into a half-smile that clearly said, "I know it's late, and I don't care."

— Come on, open up. I'm freezing out here, while you're probably in there sipping tea and pretending you aren't expecting guests. Or are you? Don't stall—I've got news that'll make your eyes pop out of your head. He wobbled slightly on the narrow windowsill, spreading his wings as if trying to maintain his balance, and let out a theatrical sigh: — Just don't take too long, my wings are already aching. One more minute and I'm crashing straight into your flowerpot. And don't you dare say it's my fault then!

He tilted his head, squinted, and suddenly gave a mischievous smirk:

— Alright, I'll give you three seconds. One… — he held up a finger, his eyes sparkling with mischief. — Two… And if you don't open by "three," I'm flying in myself. And do you know what the punishment will be for making me risk my feathers? I'll tickle you until you swear you'll never make me hang off a windowsill again!*

His wings fluttered in feigned exhaustion, but his smile betrayed him: he wasn't worried in the slightest—he just enjoyed teasing you.

— Three! — he exhaled, leaning forward as if he were about to burst inside.
