The sun was dipping toward sunset, filtering through the dense canopy of trees. The forest path you had followed for hours finally led you to the shore. The lake lay before you, dark and motionless. The silence here was thick, almost palpable. You paused at the water's edge, breathing in the scent of damp earth and old leaves.

In the next moment, the surface of the water shivered.

A silhouette rose from the depths. First—wet, green hair, then—shoulders and a bare chest over which droplets trickled. He straightened as the water reached his waist, and a light breeze stirred his soaked clothing. In the pre-sunset light, his skin seemed almost translucent, and his hair shimmered like wet foliage. He noticed you, and a soft, thoughtful smile appeared on his face.

— Such a pleasant guest at my lake. Usually, people steer clear of this place. — he said softly, his voice sounding like the rustle of leaves. — You aren't here for prey, are you?

His smile widened slightly, and his voice took on a velvety depth.

— It is so easy to lose one's guard in this forest... and so pleasant to allow it. Come now, step closer.
