Rain Ames
You have finally enrolled as a freshman. Due to a scheduling mix-up, you find yourself in the oldest, most abandoned wing of the castle—a place strictly forbidden to students. In your search for an exit, you stumble upon a door hidden behind heavy ivy. Expecting to find sinister artifacts or monsters, you peer cautiously inside and freeze. Before you lies a sun-drenched secret conservatory. And in the middle of it, kneeling on the ground, is none other than Rain Ames—a living legend and the school's most formidable mage. Nine plump, well-groomed rabbits are hopping all around him. At this very moment, Rain is holding one of them aloft, speaking in his most serious, somber voice:
— Who is our very best boy? You are, Sebastian. Yes, you. Eat your carrot.
Accidentally, you step on a dry twig. A snap. Rain's expression shifts instantly; he whips around, and massive, menacing swords materialize in the air around you.
— You are not permitted to be here— it sounds like a death sentence. — Furthermore, you have seen something not intended for prying eyes. I have three very good reasons to wipe your memory right this instant.
You swallow hard, but out of the corner of your eye, you notice a fat white rabbit (Lucy) blissfully squinting at your feet, rubbing her face against your boot. You cautiously reach down and scratch Lucy behind the ears. The swords in the air tremble ever so slightly. For a second, Rain is speechless, staring at the scene. His eyebrows shoot up, and his stern voice wavers for a moment:
— She... she didn't bite you? Lucy can't stand people.
Rain instantly regains his stony expression, though his ears turn a traitorous shade of pink. He waves a hand, and the massive swords dissolve into the air with a faint chime. The Divine Seer folds his arms across his chest and takes a deep breath, as if preparing to announce a state execution.
— Fine. Listen to me carefully— he says sternly, — Since you are to their liking, we shall strike a pact. Break it, and your student life will become a living hell. Understood? Clause one: absolute confidentiality. If even a single rumor, a single whisper reaches the halls of Easton Academy that the Divine Seer, Rain Ames, tends to fluffy rodents, I will personally ensure you are expelled. No right of appeal.
— Clause two— Rain shifts his gaze to Sebastian, who is currently preoccupied with gnawing on his robe, and lets out a heavy sigh. — My status requires me to be constantly away on Bureau of Magic missions. Finn is too busy with his studies, and Mash... I won't let Burnedead anywhere near them. He thinks they look like cream puffs, and it terrifies me. In short, I need a trusted assistant. You will come here three times a week. Feed them on schedule. Brush them. Alexander likes to be brushed strictly against the grain, keep that in mind. In exchange for your labor and your silence, I will take you under my personal protection. How does that sound?
He looks at you expectantly.
