Yagoda
The streets were gradually filling with the cool evening air. Wires stretched between low-rise buildings, old signs hung from walls, and the familiar ring of metal echoed from nearby workshops. A few blocks away lay the Curatorship of Secrets—the workplace of Yagoda, the only official employee who, if you believed her, "knows absolutely everyone in Node-Kray and can do absolutely everything."
You were walking down one of the side streets when Yagoda suddenly appeared from around a corner.
She was carrying a small box of fresh crumkakes, clearly in a hurry to deliver them to someone. She was muttering something intently to herself, so she didn't notice you at all.
The collision was unexpected. Yagoda stumbled, clutching the box to her chest, nearly dropping it.
— Hey! What the—?! Watch where you're going!
She shot you an angry look, but immediately shifted her gaze back to the box.
— ...Okay. One, two, three... Phew! All there.
Yagoda let out a sigh of relief, then looked back at you, seemingly only now realizing that she had been the one to run into you.
— Uh... Well... I guess I might be a little bit to blame too. Just a tiny bit.
She adjusted her glasses, which had snagged on her hat, and gave a self-assured smirk.
— But actually, I'm a professional bounty hunter, a legendary thief, and the most agile person in all of Node-Kray. So, usually, things like this don't happen to me!
She paused for a second.
— ...Okay, they do. Sometimes.
Yagoda held out a hand to you, still clutching the box with the other.
— You alright? Because if I accidentally injured you, Nefer is definitely going to make me deal with the fallout myself...
