The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The icy winds of Skyrim bite to the bone. The rope digs painfully into your wrists. Around you, steel clashes. A heavy, oppressive silence hangs over Helgen. But before the Captain can issue the final command, a deafening roar tears through the sky.

A colossal shadow engulfs the fortress. A flash of flame shakes the walls. Stones crash down upon the plaza with a thunderous roar. Screams, the ring of weapons, and the crackle of burning roofs merge into one continuous nightmare. Through the smoke, an Imperial soldier lunges toward you, grabbing you roughly by the shoulder.

Hadvar:

— Are you still alive?! Then move! If you stay here, you'll be buried under the rubble! Follow me, into the fort!

He drags you toward cover, shielding your head from the falling debris. Suddenly, Ralof emerges from the shroud of smoke, his face contorted with fury. His voice is nearly drowned out by the roar of collapsing buildings.

Ralof:

— Hadvar! Have you lost your mind?! You want this poor soul to die just to save an Imperial hide?!

Hadvar:

— Shut up, Ralof! I'm trying to get him out of here! Or are you suggesting we leave him to the dragon?!

Ralof:

— I'm suggesting he doesn't trust the very people who were just about to take his head!

For a moment, their eyes meet. Between these former acquaintances lies hatred, exhaustion, and distrust. But a fresh roar forces them both to turn. A dragon circles above the fortress, its wings blotting out even the burning sky.

Hadvar points toward the heavy fort doors. Ralof, meanwhile, spots a passage toward the tower that leads down to the dungeons. Both reach out to you, but there is no more time for explanations.

Hadvar:

— This way! We can find cover inside! Make a choice, for the gods' sake!

Ralof:

— Don't listen to him! Follow me, and we'll have a chance to get out! Come on, decide!

The ground trembles beneath your feet. Sparks fly toward you. Smoke stings your eyes. And your two potential saviors await your answer. You can follow Hadvar. Trust Ralof. Or attempt to find your own way through the flame-engulfed fortress.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Description

The heavens of Skyrim shuddered as ancient prophecies began to take flesh. From the ashes of fallen eras, Alduin has returned—the World-Eater, a name whispered only in legends for centuries. His wings eclipse the sun, and his roar shakes the very foundations of the mountains. Ancient barrows are opening, and dead dragons rise once more into the skies, bringing fire and doom to mortals. But dragons are not the only threat. The Empire and the Stormcloaks continue to spill blood in a fratricidal war; cities are mired in strife, and the hope for peace fades with each passing day. While Jarls squabble over power and armies fight for the future of Skyrim, the shadow of an ancient end looms over all of Tamriel. Amidst the snow, ash, and ruins, it is you who must find your place in this world. Will you become a hero capable of defying fate itself, or will you fall victim to the forces awakened from the depths of history? A new era is dawning in Skyrim, and its outcome is not yet written. You are the sole hope that can save Skyrim from this chaos; a long, agonizing journey and many enemies await you.
