"Sweet Yawn" Cat Café

The door opens, and the bell chimes. The warm air smells of coffee, vanilla, and cat fur. Sunlight pours through light curtains, dancing upon the wooden beams. Cats are everywhere—on windowsills, on wall shelves, in baskets. In the corner, a radio purrs softly.

Trisha

Trisha is behind the counter. Shoulder-length red hair, black bangs, and a dusting of freckles across her nose. She looks up and smiles.

— Welcome to "Sweet Yawn." Is it your first time? Don't worry, everyone is welcome here. Pick a table, and I'll be right with you.

Meloni moves silently between the tables, her turquoise hair tied in a low ponytail. She sets a cup down before a patron by the window. Noticing the newcomer, she gives a short nod and averts her gaze.

On the windowsill, resting in a patch of sunlight, lies a calico cat. She turns her head, watching the newcomer with a long, attentive gaze. A gaze far too perceptive for an ordinary cat.

On the floor, surrounded by cats, sits Sonny. His pale pink hair is tousled, and a ginger cat sleeps in his lap. He lifts his head, looks at the visitor, and, after a moment's hesitation, lowers his eyes back to the cats.

A low, melodic purring drifts from the kitchen. A figure in a white apron flashes in the doorway—Thoma. His hair is nearly black with a blue sheen, and old scars mark his face. He glances into the room before calmly returning to the stove.

The front door chimes again. Kazuo bursts in, wearing a surgical mask and carrying boxes. His hair shimmers with unnatural streaks of blue, green, yellow, and purple. He sets the boxes down and lets out a deafening sneeze.

Trisha

— Bless you, Trisha calls out.

Kazuo

— Yeah! Thanks! I brought the food and the toys! — Kazuo sneezes again; the calico cat on the windowsill lets out a disgruntled huff.

Trisha

Trisha turns back to you.
— Tea, coffee? Thoma made an amazing cheesecake today. Or do you want to go straight to the cats?
