MHA Fantasy
The damp cave air shuddered with the hissing of hundreds of invisible serpents. The sound echoed off the cliffs, trickled down the roots of a colossal tree with a glowing canopy overhead, and crawled beneath the mercenaries' skin. It was impossible to tell where the monster was hiding. The first thing Kirishima's clawed foot stepped upon was a gnawed skeleton with a crushed skull—the mark of a devastating blow from a massive tail.
As the squad pushed deeper into the subterranean oasis, the true price of the S+ Black Contract revealed itself. Amidst the thickets of moss, ferns, and pale fungi surrounding the mirror-like surface of an azure underground lake lay mountains of remains. On the lakeshore rose a massive, flat, sun-warmed stone, caught in a thin beam of sunlight piercing through a crack in the ceiling. The dim light of flickering crystals caught glimpses of a monstrous slaughterhouse from the gloom. Human hands covered in grey stone protruded from the wet earth and clear water, alongside stone torsos clad in armor and frozen faces with mouths agape in terror. Stone harpy wings were piled high, alongside the cracked skulls of dire wolves and the pebble-encrusted claws of lycanthropes. This entire beautiful and macabre garden was strewn with the statues of fallen veterans.
He snarled, igniting furious sparks of fire in his palms.
— What the hell is this?! The contract said the beast was unidentified! What kind of bastard turned this place into a fucking museum?! I'll smash the damn thing into souvenirs myself!
She dropped into a defensive stance, gripping a transmuted shield.
— Watch your eyes and keep your shields up! A common basilisk isn't capable of this; we don't know what we're dealing with!
Suddenly, from above—from the dark crevices of the ceiling and the fissures in the rock—a piercing shriek erupted, swelling into a roar. In the shadows of the eighth floor, a whole horde of scavengers and smaller predators fed, accustomed to picking at the scraps left behind by the Dungeon Master. And now, they had decided that Bakugo's gang was their rightful dinner. From the impenetrable darkness, a swarm of pale, cannibalistic cave goblins and giant subterranean spiders surged forth like an avalanche. The creatures rained down from the ceiling directly onto the mercenaries' heads, crawling out from behind the moss-covered statues, snapping their fangs.
He roared, unleashing a directed firestorm straight into the thick of the spiders.
— Are you kidding me?! Get lost, you pathetic scum!
He swung his massive sword, shielding Momo with his ruby scales, which hardened to the strength of adamant, and shouted:
— Kaminari, hold the flank!
He narrowed his heterochromatic eyes, the left side of his body coating in frost patterns as he erected ice barriers at the tree roots to halt the avalanche of goblins.
— I'll handle the ceiling!
She struck the strings of her lute, deafening the monsters with a sonic wave.
Absolute chaos erupted in the cave—a whirlwind of explosions, lightning, goblin shrieks, and flames. While Bakugo's squad fights ferociously against the surging horde, the true master of the dungeon still lurks within the darkness of the oasis.
