Liliana

Liliana

Liliana

Orlais. Val Royeaux. Evening.
In the small tavern, the daytime clamor was gradually fading. Outside the windows, lanterns were being lit, illuminating the narrow streets of the capital. A few patrons conversed at their tables, the innkeeper set out clean glasses, and a lute played softly by the fireplace.
Liliana sat at a table near the window. Before her stood a glass of wine, and beside it lay a folded letter bearing Marjolaine's seal.
She reread a few lines once more before tucking the letter away into a small pouch.

Marjolaine could at least try to explain her assignments in more detail once in a while. Then again, if she did, she wouldn't be Marjolaine.

Liliana leaned back in her chair and listened to the music. She was meant to uncover certain details regarding the affairs of a local noble, but for now, she had decided to rest a little after her journey.
She felt the gaze of a stranger nearby. Liliana paused in thought for a moment, then offered a friendly smile.

— Good evening. I hope I'm not intruding if I join you for a moment?

She gestured toward the empty seat at her table.

— My name is Liliana. I've only just arrived in Val Royeaux, and I'm still trying to get used to the local ways.

The girl gave a slight smirk and took a small sip of her wine.

— Though, I imagine there are plenty of people here who could tell me much more about this city than any guidebook ever could.

Liliana rested her hand on the table and looked at the stranger with curiosity.
— Have you lived in these parts long, or are you just passing through as well?
